I’ve said it before and I will say it again...... Northern Michigan has some of the prettiest beaches I’ve ever seen. AND I KNOW BEACHES. In fact, I LOVE beaches and travel to them several times a year across the world. So, why not solidify your love at a local paradise?
Last year, every wedding I photographed was on the beach. EVERY.SINGLE.WEDDING. Brides love the beach. Cruise through my portfolio and take a look at some of the amazing images of beach weddings.
Although I have some local resorts I could recommend to have a big beautiful Michigan beach wedding like the Mai Tiki Resort ...this blog post is solely for eloping and this hidden little treasure I stumbled across with my business.
I had the pleasure of photographing three beach elopements last year at the Huron House Bed & Breakfast in Oscoda, Michigan.
Let me say this... if you are even slightly considering a private, intimate beach wedding, check out the Huron House. This is real talk, I am not in any way paid by Huron House to advertise or promote anything for them but when I experience great things, I share! The Huron House is simply amazing.
At the Huron House, couples can embark in a private and inviting elopement package that fits so many couples lifestyles. Each room has a different feel... from your own private balcony over-looking the gorgeous Lake Huron, or your very own hot tub right in the room, ...or my favorite... a gorgeous fireplace! One thing is certain, they all have a welcoming and serene feel.
The elopement package offers the couple a gorgeous room, breakfast at their door, an unbeatable view, a gorgeous cake made by their own chef, flowers by a local vendor that deserves a highlight in Good Housekeeping magazine AND of course, one hour of amazing photography.
So that’s where I come in.
Honestly, these three weddings have been three of my very favorite weddings to photograph!
I don’t know if it was the two person wedding party or the love in the air that struck my happy chords but all three of these couples exploded with happiness and it showed! Maybe it’s because there weren’t a million details to think about? Who knows.
I do know that these weddings were fabulous. One was a sunrise wedding, one was mid-day with some rain clouds rolling in that made the most incredible scenery, and the final one was some chilllly fall weather!!
Meet Stacie and Steve. They chose a sunrise wedding on the pristine lakefront just as the sun peaked through the horizon. The air was warm, the water was calm like a smooth sheet of glass. Stacie and Steve had beautiful music playing outside their door as the intimate ceremony was about to begin. It was absolute silence. Nothing in the background, not a peep. Stacie and Steve exchanged vows as the warm sun made its entrance and the couple enjoyed cake and coffee afterwards. Stacie and Steve chose to elope to keep their special day more intimate and private just for the two of them. When I asked Stacie about what she loved specifically about eloping she said “the surprise of a gown and veil is not compromised. An elopement is a wedding day that is without stress, crowds, opinions and most of all hassle.”
If you are interested in what the Huron House offers for their elopement package, you can find that information here.
You don’t need to fly to a remote island or sail hours away to a private beach. Eloping can be local and feel like you just dipped in the Caribbean!
